Your Committee met on Wednesday to discuss and begin the implementation of the AFL Vic return to training protocols.
Our primary objective is to enable a return to training in a safe and timely manner. Our focus is on participation and engagement – given the lock down we understand the importance for your child of organized sport for social reconnection, a balanced approach to life and mental health. Development is the key. We are not focusing training at this point on team competition outcomes – this will come in time. Please remember that remainder of the season will be highly modified.
To enable us to track every player movement at every training session, your child must be registered with the Club for them to participate in a return to training. Unregistered players are not eligible.
No child will miss out – our club will support you and your family. If due to current household circumstances our fees present an impediment please contact Kirstie Edwards confidentially at email@example.com
There is no onus to attend. It is OK to reconnect when you feel comfortable. We will provide updates on our implementation and some special resources for you to see how training’s are conducted and what you can expect when you return.
A return to training will only commence when we are confident the protocols are well understood by participants and can be confidently implemented. A return to training will occur in a phased manner – with older age brackets and smaller squads our priority. Larger younger groups will commence over coming weeks as we embed our processes and learning’s from the smaller squads and take on board any feedback
Our expectation is that all our families download the COVID SAFE APP to your mobile phones https://www.covidsafe.gov.au/
I want to stress for my part as President and COVID Officer this is non-negotiable part of returning to training at Ormond. If you have any concerns speak with me directly or email me firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is for the safety of both our players and volunteers – it will enable a rapid response if there are any external risks to them.
Our phased return is consistent with the protocols provided by AFL Vic. Our focus during the week for 25 May is to finalise our online education modules and logistical planning. This will go live shortly and you will be advised of the steps. All coaches, players and parents will be required to complete an online education package before they can attend allocated training sessions at EE Gunn. We will conduct a special online session for coaches. A short summary of the content will be provided shortly. The resources will be provided to players and parents online through our web and Team App platforms.
We will be using Team App to communicate and track player attendance at training. No other platforms for compliance will be used. If you are not on Team App – please download it now https://www.teamapp.com/app?_detail=v1
and join “ORMOND JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB”.
Training proper will not commence at the earliest for our first groups until the week commencing 1 June. Online educational resources on the protocols will be cascaded out over the coming weeks to each relevant team a week ahead of them commencing training proper. There will be a number of click through steps for you to become compliant with the protocols ahead of training. If you have special needs in relation to accessing or understanding the protocols please contact Kirstie Edwards email@example.com
The COVID protocols will be strictly enforced. You will be advised on entry and exit points and on pre and post training cleaning steps. Ensuring safe entry, exit and ground access for small group training is a significant logistical undertaking. We will need your attentive cooperation. We don’t expect any deliberate or repeated infractions against any of the protocols but if they were to occur be aware our actions will be swift and decisive. We are negotiating with Council and the Senior Club access to grounds so that we can conduct training across a wider spread of times and ground area – reducing risks and improving the training experience. This will include Sunday training sessions for some age groups.
During the lock down your Committee has worked extremely hard to ensure we could respond rapidly to changing circumstances and opportunities. They have not wasted the crisis. I want to extend to them my personal thanks for their stellar efforts – you are fortunate to have such an amazing, positive and creative group of people volunteering for you. But now is the time for a further rachet up of Club life – we need volunteers across a range of team positions and we look to you. Now.
